Homemade Playdough

September 24, 2010 by Sara Haynes 9 Comments

A few years ago we received a HUGE set of playdough. HUGE.
After that we always seemed to have plenty to go around. Somehow, though, over time the colors “magically” got mixed together and some of the lids didn’t get put on properly. My three year old was also really good at getting into the playdough no matter how hard I tried to “hide” it. It’s like she could just sniff it out and on more than one occasion I found her in a sea of playdough. Fun times.

Balance

I’ve got this theory that if the phone was invented after texting, people would be all like
“Wow! You can actually HEAR the person!”

When I heard that on a t.v show a while back I burst out laughing. When it’s put like that I just think it’s hilarious 🙂
It’s true though, isn’t it?

I’ve determined that I’m a granny at heart. I have always been a step behind in the technology department. I’ve admitted before that I don’t text very often. It just takes me forever to send a message. I’d rather just pick up the phone and call ya.
Well, to be totally honest, part of it is because it takes way to much effort to text someone (translation- I’m way too lazy) but I also think it’s because my soul longs to connect. Really connect.

Lately God has really been speaking to me about boundaries, priorities and relationships in my life.

I miss Him

August 15, 2010 by Sara Haynes 12 Comments

Last summer we closed the doors to our little white church.

And even though my heart grieved (a lot) there was a small hint of excitement at what God would do next. Where we would go. What He would have us do. But as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months and now a whole year has past I just don’t know anymore.
I am not doubting who God is (or what He can do.) I completely KNOW who He is and what He is capable of.
What I am doubting is me. My motives. My heart.

Tuesday Randomness

August 3, 2010 by Sara Haynes 4 Comments

1. Yesterday Chris’ parents surprised us and took all three kids for the day. The ENTIRE day! So, we went out for lunch. Alone. Without children. Alone, people! We were actually able to have an entire conversation without interruptions. It was glorious.

2. I have done approximately 12 loads of laundry in the attempts to get ready for our vacation next week. I have approximately 12 more to go (at least it feels like it)

3. My “get ready for our vacation list” is written and I’m a little afraid of it. It’s two pages long.

I love Jesus, my guy Chris + our four. We seek joy. Homeschool. Adventure together. Mess up and start again.

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."

Ok friends! This is your personal invitation to ju Ok friends! This is your personal invitation to jump in with me to read through your Bible in a year. I know that for me, the years I’ve had a “plan” have been the years I have most consistently spent daily quiet time with Jesus.

The plan I’m following has a portion of the Old Testament, Psalm, Proverb and New Testament to read each day. And it’ll be the best 10 mins you spend each day! 💗 You do not need the specific bible I’m using, I’ll have the readings posted so you can use whatever you have!

If I’ve learned anything in 2020 it’s that I long for community. Yes, I can read through on my own this year.... but how much richer would it be to do this with friends. The bible tells us “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

I know I have experienced God in amazing ways through the words & experiences of friends. We were made for community!

SO-I’ve created a private FB group for us to have the space to encourage, share and find accountability as we dig into God’s word in 2021!

Would love for you to join me. 💗

A brand new bible for a brand new year. Chris and A brand new bible for a brand new year. Chris and the kids all use YouVersion for their bible plans but I am partial to a physical book- just something about feeling those pages as I read.
If anyone wants to join me please send me a message! I’d love to spend 2021 in the word with you! 💗

Our first Christmas together in the mountains. ❤ Our first Christmas together in the mountains. ❤️
This moment. I look forward to it every year. Ever This moment. I look forward to it every year. Everyone else is in bed while I sit here in the dark- with only the light from the tree. My heart is so full of anticipation. Wonder. Joy.

I always think of that first Christmas night while I sit here by the glow of the tree and see the gifts under its branches. I think of all those years ago on that eve of our Jesus’ birth. I imagine how all of heaven must have felt the same as I do tonight- KNOWING the gift we were about to receive on that wonderful night. Dear friends, may all our souls feel their worth tonight as we remember who HE is.
💗

Oh holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error, pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn'
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the Angels' voices
Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born
Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
