Dance

April 18, 2010 by Sara Haynes 17 Comments

The other morning
my sweet chubby (almost) 2 yr old came waddling into the dinning room
where I was busy typing away on the computer.
She tugged insistently on my arm and when I looked down
I saw that she was proudly sporting her tutu.
She looked up at me with her big bright eyes and said one simple word
“dance”

Yippee!
You are 3 today!
(or as you say it “I free!”)

You are so very beautiful
full of life
and most definitely the comedian of the family.
You constantly have us laughing….
at the serious way you tell your stories
at your crazy expressions
and just by hearing your laugh!
It’s contagious.

Worry

April 6, 2010 by Sara Haynes 9 Comments

It can eat me alive.
It can be like a cancer.
It can start small and quickly spread like wildfire.
It can be contagious.
It can overwhelm.

But it can be overcome.
We can actually give it away and receive peace in return.
A peace that surpasses all human understanding.
A peace that we can rest in.

‘Do not worry about anything, instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.’ Philippians 4:6-7

So that’s it?
All I have to do is pray about it, and I will experience God’s peace?
Why then do I insist on struggling with worry…..

Grace

April 2, 2010 by Sara Haynes 4 Comments

I’m embarrassed to write this, but in the past I have been guilty of letting Easter be about bunnies, eggs, chocolate, family and celebrating together….and oh ya, it’s also about Jesus (it pains me to admit, but He definitely took a backseat to the rest of the list.)

This year though, my heart is raw with anticipation. I’m not sure if I can even properly explain it. I am just so overwhelmed at the thought of what Jesus did for us.

I can barely see through my tears at the computer screen as I type this.

He sacrificed Himself with unimaginable pain and suffering just to make a way so that we could be near Him.
That is love. That is grace. That is beautiful.

He choose death, so that we might live.

Now stop and let that sink in.

I love Jesus, my guy Chris + our four. We seek joy. Homeschool. Adventure together. Mess up and start again.

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
Romans 8:28

Ok friends! This is your personal invitation to ju Ok friends! This is your personal invitation to jump in with me to read through your Bible in a year. I know that for me, the years I’ve had a “plan” have been the years I have most consistently spent daily quiet time with Jesus.

The plan I’m following has a portion of the Old Testament, Psalm, Proverb and New Testament to read each day. And it’ll be the best 10 mins you spend each day! 💗 You do not need the specific bible I’m using, I’ll have the readings posted so you can use whatever you have!

If I’ve learned anything in 2020 it’s that I long for community. Yes, I can read through on my own this year.... but how much richer would it be to do this with friends. The bible tells us “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

I know I have experienced God in amazing ways through the words & experiences of friends. We were made for community!

SO-I’ve created a private FB group for us to have the space to encourage, share and find accountability as we dig into God’s word in 2021!

Would love for you to join me. 💗

A brand new bible for a brand new year. Chris and A brand new bible for a brand new year. Chris and the kids all use YouVersion for their bible plans but I am partial to a physical book- just something about feeling those pages as I read.
If anyone wants to join me please send me a message! I’d love to spend 2021 in the word with you! 💗

Our first Christmas together in the mountains. ❤ Our first Christmas together in the mountains. ❤️
This moment. I look forward to it every year. Ever This moment. I look forward to it every year. Everyone else is in bed while I sit here in the dark- with only the light from the tree. My heart is so full of anticipation. Wonder. Joy.

I always think of that first Christmas night while I sit here by the glow of the tree and see the gifts under its branches. I think of all those years ago on that eve of our Jesus’ birth. I imagine how all of heaven must have felt the same as I do tonight- KNOWING the gift we were about to receive on that wonderful night. Dear friends, may all our souls feel their worth tonight as we remember who HE is.
💗

Oh holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error, pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn'
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the Angels' voices
Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born
Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
