Lego Party

October 21, 2010 by Sara Haynes 49 Comments

Last weekend we celebrated the big SeVeN with a Lego party. The boys had a great time and I have to admit it was really easy to plan and very laid back.
Here’s what we did, in case a Lego party may be in your future too!

Chocolate Banana Pie

October 19, 2010 by Sara Haynes 4 Comments

I have officially dubbed this pregnancy the “chocolate” pregnancy.
Anything and everything chocolate makes me a very happy mama. So, the other day when my grandma was talking about this pie {that she has somehow been making for years and I had never heard of it ’till now!} I knew it was going to be in my fridge by the end of that day.

And it was.

I have no self control people.

I told you this was the “chocolate pregnancy” right?

Anyways, it did not disappoint. My girls even licked their plates clean.

Wanna know how to make the easiest and yummiest pie ever?
It’s three ingredients and will take you about 20 minutes to whip up.

Your welcome.

Truth in Love

October 6, 2010 by Sara Haynes 11 Comments

The other day my husband surprised me.
With a “just because I love you” gift.
Eeeeeeee!
Those are my absolute favorite kind of gifts. I felt special. And loved.
And I am still smiling as I type this.
Love you honey!!!

Then, a few days later this same sweet husband casually mentioned:

“You should start writing again”

“But I don’t have anything good to say. I have writers block” I whined.

“Maybe you should open your bible” was his answer.

Ouch. Like really ouch.

Ten on Tuesday

September 28, 2010 by Sara Haynes 13 Comments

1. Yesterday my dear friend Miranda came over and taught me how to make homemade salsa. It is delicious and surprisingly way easier than I thought. I have definitely caught the canning bug. I loved making it! And yes, I did a great job as a paparazzi and there will be a post all about our adventure coming soon.

2. We have been enjoying wonderful lazy fall days. Collecting leaves. Seeing the beauty around us. Making pumpkin muffins and cookies. I can’t tell you happy fall makes me. I love the colors, smells and tastes of fall. It is by far my favorite season.

I love Jesus, my guy Chris + our four. We seek joy. Homeschool. Adventure together. Mess up and start again.

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."

Ok friends! This is your personal invitation to ju Ok friends! This is your personal invitation to jump in with me to read through your Bible in a year. I know that for me, the years I’ve had a “plan” have been the years I have most consistently spent daily quiet time with Jesus.

The plan I’m following has a portion of the Old Testament, Psalm, Proverb and New Testament to read each day. And it’ll be the best 10 mins you spend each day! 💗 You do not need the specific bible I’m using, I’ll have the readings posted so you can use whatever you have!

If I’ve learned anything in 2020 it’s that I long for community. Yes, I can read through on my own this year.... but how much richer would it be to do this with friends. The bible tells us “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

I know I have experienced God in amazing ways through the words & experiences of friends. We were made for community!

SO-I’ve created a private FB group for us to have the space to encourage, share and find accountability as we dig into God’s word in 2021!

Would love for you to join me. 💗

Pretty to look at, sure, but I like to see when I’m skiing. 🤷‍♀️
A brand new bible for a brand new year. Chris and A brand new bible for a brand new year. Chris and the kids all use YouVersion for their bible plans but I am partial to a physical book- just something about feeling those pages as I read.
If anyone wants to join me please send me a message! I’d love to spend 2021 in the word with you! 💗

Our first Christmas together in the mountains. ❤ Our first Christmas together in the mountains. ❤️
This moment. I look forward to it every year. Ever This moment. I look forward to it every year. Everyone else is in bed while I sit here in the dark- with only the light from the tree. My heart is so full of anticipation. Wonder. Joy.

I always think of that first Christmas night while I sit here by the glow of the tree and see the gifts under its branches. I think of all those years ago on that eve of our Jesus’ birth. I imagine how all of heaven must have felt the same as I do tonight- KNOWING the gift we were about to receive on that wonderful night. Dear friends, may all our souls feel their worth tonight as we remember who HE is.
💗

Oh holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error, pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn'
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the Angels' voices
Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born
Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
