Checkin’ In

August 15, 2011 by Sara Haynes 5 Comments

Wow. I have missed you guys. I have wanted to come on here many times and share updates throughout our busy summer but I just haven’t. How’s that for an excuse. Ha. To be completely honest friends I have just been a little overwhelmed with being a mama. I’ve tried to step away from the computer and it has been nice. Very nice. But I’ve missed ya’ll. Somehow I need to find a balance of some kind….sigh.
Having four little ones at home this summer has proven to be a little busier than last year. I love it, but there are days when I just think…”oh my word could it get any crazier around here?!” ha!

I do plan to upload my pictures (at some point) and share what we’ve been up to but for now here is a crazy random post of just a few things swirling around in my brain…

Smarty Pants

July 21, 2011 by Sara Haynes 10 Comments

They have certainly taken some getting use to (we’ve lost and found them twice already) and we’ve been back to the store to get them re-adjusted a few times (now, I’m a pro and re-adjust them myself!) but all in all she’s doing great. I think she looks pretty darn cute.

She skips ahead of me.
In a Cinderella dress down to her toes.
A size too big.
I remember her face, earlier, when I said that yes, she could keep her dress-up dress on for our walk.
(I’m known to say no.)
I won’t ever forget the way she looked up at me with her big brown eyes full of excitement “Thank you mama!” she gasped.
And now I watch as she happily dances down the sidewalk.
“Watch me skip mama!”

I love Jesus, my guy Chris + our four. We seek joy. Homeschool. Adventure together. Mess up and start again.

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
Romans 8:28

Ok friends! This is your personal invitation to ju Ok friends! This is your personal invitation to jump in with me to read through your Bible in a year. I know that for me, the years I’ve had a “plan” have been the years I have most consistently spent daily quiet time with Jesus.

The plan I’m following has a portion of the Old Testament, Psalm, Proverb and New Testament to read each day. And it’ll be the best 10 mins you spend each day! 💗 You do not need the specific bible I’m using, I’ll have the readings posted so you can use whatever you have!

If I’ve learned anything in 2020 it’s that I long for community. Yes, I can read through on my own this year.... but how much richer would it be to do this with friends. The bible tells us “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

I know I have experienced God in amazing ways through the words & experiences of friends. We were made for community!

SO-I’ve created a private FB group for us to have the space to encourage, share and find accountability as we dig into God’s word in 2021!

Would love for you to join me. 💗

A brand new bible for a brand new year. Chris and A brand new bible for a brand new year. Chris and the kids all use YouVersion for their bible plans but I am partial to a physical book- just something about feeling those pages as I read.
If anyone wants to join me please send me a message! I’d love to spend 2021 in the word with you! 💗

Our first Christmas together in the mountains. ❤ Our first Christmas together in the mountains. ❤️
This moment. I look forward to it every year. Ever This moment. I look forward to it every year. Everyone else is in bed while I sit here in the dark- with only the light from the tree. My heart is so full of anticipation. Wonder. Joy.

I always think of that first Christmas night while I sit here by the glow of the tree and see the gifts under its branches. I think of all those years ago on that eve of our Jesus’ birth. I imagine how all of heaven must have felt the same as I do tonight- KNOWING the gift we were about to receive on that wonderful night. Dear friends, may all our souls feel their worth tonight as we remember who HE is.
💗

Oh holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error, pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn'
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the Angels' voices
Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born
Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
