Change of plans…

April 4, 2010 by Sara Haynes 6 Comments

I had so many wonderful plans for this Easter weekend.

I was going to attempt to bake hot cross buns on friday.
(My mom always made hot cross buns on good friday. And although I have tried several times without success, I was excited to give it another shot…)
On Saturday I thought it would be fun to go to the zoo and participate in the Easter egg hunt there 🙂
Then, we were going to go to church with Chris’ parents on Sunday morning to worship and celebrate Grace together.
And finally, we were going to enjoy a yummy Easter dinner with my Dad and have fun at his annual Easter Egg Hunt.
All my plans were in place.
And it was shaping up to be the perfect family weekend…..

Grace

April 2, 2010 by Sara Haynes 4 Comments

I’m embarrassed to write this, but in the past I have been guilty of letting Easter be about bunnies, eggs, chocolate, family and celebrating together….and oh ya, it’s also about Jesus (it pains me to admit, but He definitely took a backseat to the rest of the list.)

This year though, my heart is raw with anticipation. I’m not sure if I can even properly explain it. I am just so overwhelmed at the thought of what Jesus did for us.

I can barely see through my tears at the computer screen as I type this.

He sacrificed Himself with unimaginable pain and suffering just to make a way so that we could be near Him.
That is love. That is grace. That is beautiful.

He choose death, so that we might live.

Now stop and let that sink in.

Oil Changes

March 23, 2010 by Sara Haynes 17 Comments

When Chris and I were first married I wouldn’t order pizza.
Yup, you read that right. I wouldn’t order pizza!
It just scared me… or rather intimidated me.
I hated calling companies to complain or ask questions about our bills. I didn’t even like making doctors appointments.

Slowly though, over time, I grew braver….a LOT braver. I now (quite proudly) order pizza, book appointments, deal with all our medical/dental needs and (believe it or not) I even get the oil changed on the van- all by myself! See how far I’ve come?
I’m pretty sure our kids have significantly contributed to my growth….

I love Jesus, my guy Chris + our four. We seek joy. Homeschool. Adventure together. Mess up and start again.

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
Romans 8:28
