Balance

September 16, 2010 by Sara Haynes 13 Comments

I’ve got this theory that if the phone was invented after texting, people would be all like
“Wow! You can actually HEAR the person!”

When I heard that on a t.v show a while back I burst out laughing. When it’s put like that I just think it’s hilarious 🙂
It’s true though, isn’t it?

I’ve determined that I’m a granny at heart. I have always been a step behind in the technology department. I’ve admitted before that I don’t text very often. It just takes me forever to send a message. I’d rather just pick up the phone and call ya.
Well, to be totally honest, part of it is because it takes way to much effort to text someone (translation- I’m way too lazy) but I also think it’s because my soul longs to connect. Really connect.

Her Journal

September 8, 2010 by Sara Haynes 13 Comments

Last night we were at my dad’s house and my sister showed me something extremely special.
My mom’s journal.
A journal she started when she received her bone marrow transplant.
One that she wrote in just months before she died.
A journal that we didn’t even know existed until last night.

She wanted to record the road to her recovery….

I started reading it and had to stop because it was just too hard to take it all in at once. She wrote about how she was feeling. She wrote about our family. She wrote about us.
I picked it up again today and am broken inside.

This weekend the girls and I were invited to a fancy tea party.
Grandma (Chris’ mom) made reservations at a cute little tea house and invited us to join her for lunch.

Since, this was our first “official” tea party (we have had many a princess tea party at home) we decided that we needed to take extra care and really get beautified for the event.

First Day

September 1, 2010 by Sara Haynes 10 Comments

My baby started Grade TWO today.
(sniff sniff. STOP growing!)

This year, we celebrated by having a special “surprise! it’s your first day of school!” breakfast.
(totally stole this idea. thanks again Denise!!!)
We put up streamers, balloons and set the table with a party tablecloth.
So fun.
I made his favorite- waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. Mmmmm.
The kids were all thrilled when they came downstairs in the morning. They don’t normally get sugar for breakfast. I’m mean that way.

I love Jesus, my guy Chris + our four. We seek joy. Homeschool. Adventure together. Mess up and start again.

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
Romans 8:28
