Raise your hand if you have a big pile of crayons that look like these in your house:
Perfect.
Don’t throw them out!
Instead, let’s bring them to life again.All you need are some cute little molds.
{I found the sesame street one at the dollar store and the flower ones at superstore but you can also use muffin tins if you don’t have molds}
Step One: Peel off the paper wrapping.
Now. This was quite the task. It took FOREVER. The girls did great though. Especially our almost 3 year old.
She was very patient and determined.
One tip that I read online {after we had already peeled ours. grrr!} was to use an exacto knife to cut a slit down the wrapper making it a much easier task. Wish I had seen that before we spent the time peeling off all those stubborn papers!
🙂
Step two: Break your crayons into small pieces.
{Fun. Fun. Fun.}
And then place the broken pieces inside your molds.
Don’t throw them out!

We decided to make some solid color crayons…
Step three: Bake ’em in the oven at 275 degrees for about 10 minutes. I put our molds on a cookie sheet in case the wax spilled over. But they were perfect and didn’t make a mess at all.
Once the wax has melted remove from oven and allow to completely cool.
Then just pop ’em out and enjoy your fun new crayons!
Aren’t they pretty?

I love Jesus, my guy Chris + our four. We seek joy. Homeschool. Adventure together. Mess up and start again.
What a fun craft with a USEFUL end product. Love it!
We used to do this when I was little; love it!
Those are so neat…I can't wait to do with my own children!
I have some ABC tins, but never got around to making the crayons. I will totally do that now.
By the way, you have the eye.
You take sum purdy pictures. Wish I knew how to do that!
Oh, you are crafty! I am so not crafty. Great idea!
Those are awesome! I've made big ones before, but those shapes are super fun!
Oh I just LOVE this idea!!!
