This meal is my husband’s all-time favorite.

His numero uno!

I made it for him a couple years ago and it has always maintained it’s spot at the top of his list.
I love making it for him because it’s so easy AND he always helps with the dishes after.
🙂
I can promise you with great confidence that you will love it too.

Pepper Cheesesteak Sandwiches

First things first. Slice up some french bread into nice thick pieces (but make sure that they are thin enough to fit in your toaster.)

Put them in the toaster to toast them up a bit, but don’t forget about them, otherwise you’ll end up with this:

Not good.
Black=bad. Slightly golden brown= good!

Now, it’s time for the meat. Get yourself some yummy steaks. You’ll have to cut them into strips, which I’ve done in the past, but this time I just bought a package of “stir-fry” meat, so they were already cut into nice thin strips. I just cup them in half, and they were ready to go!

Throw ’em all in a pan and fry them on each side over high heat, with a little bit of oil. All you want to do is sear them. Don’t over cook them, because they’ll be going back in the pan in a little bit.

Take them out of the pan, put them on a plate and cover them with foil.

Next, cut up your favorite bell peppers. I use red and green, and I also throw in some green onion.

Turn the heat down to medium. Put the peppers and onion in the pan and fry for a few minutes. I like them a bit crunchy so it doesn’t take too long, just a couple of minutes.

Ok, now it’s time for the sauce. Pour in enough BBQ sauce to nicely coat the veggies.

Mix together.
Now, it’s time to add the steak back in.

Mmmmm….

Put the sliced, toasted bread on a cookie sheet.

Place a generous amount of the pepper/steak/bbq mixture on each slice of bread.

Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Broil in the oven, just until the cheese is melted.

ENJOY!
(and let your man do the dishes!)
